Recent Lithium-ion Fires in the News
John O'Callaghan introduces the SwitchStar
Have a project in Mind?
There are over four fires a day on average in Australia with the loss of life count at least three in the past six months alone. This does not include the loss of life related to animals
In most instances when the wall or casing of a lithium-ion battery is damaged; it expands and in the most severe instances splits. When a lithium-ion battery casing splits it can be like a bomb going off, causing a catastrophic explosion. The fire can rarely be extinguished and must burn out.
● Continual overcharging which over time damages the battery housing.
● Incorrect chargers being used which leads to constant overcharging.
● Smart charger device failure which leads to overcharging.
● Mishandling of battery – being dropped is a common issue.
● Charging in heated environment or direct sunlight.
● The SwitchStar removes human intervention – we all forget we have things on charge and the Switch Star stops power reaching the device automatically after eight hours.
● The SwitchStar can also detect any increase in WATTS over 2400 and will automatically turn off if detected.
● The SwitchStar immediately reduces risk if the smart charger connected to your battery fails, by ensuring no power is available after eight hours.
Ideally a home should have at least one installed in a garage or if you live in an apartment, in the basement storage area or laundry.
If you are charging any of the following devices the SwitchStar is perfect for you:
